Terms of Service
The Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (herein know as IMDT) Course and Assessment Booking Terms and Conditions.
Please ensure you have read and understood these Terms and Conditions before you make a booking. By placing a booking you are deemed to have read, understood and expressly accepted them.
Contract of Sale
Completion of the booking process and acceptance of our terms and conditions forms your contract with the IMDT.
Payment
Payment of the full course fees must be made in advance and are made at the time of placing a booking. It is not possible to attend a course unless payment has been received.
We accept payment by PayPal, online BACS, credit/debit card or cheque.
Cancellation of IMDT Courses
You have a legal right to change your mind about proceeding with your course purchase under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. All cancellations must be made by email to [email protected] within 14 days of your booking being completed.
Day 1 of the 14 day cooling off period is the day of booking.
Attendance Courses
Cancellations of attendance courses after the expiry of the 14 day period referred to above will be subject to the following fees:-

Cancellations within 0-7 days prior to the start date of the course will be charged the full course fee.

Cancellations within 8-56 days prior to the start date of the course will be charged 50% of the full course fee.

Cancellations more than 56 days prior to the start date of the course will be charged 30% of the full course fee.

If the participant fails to attend the course the full course fees are payable.
IMDT Assessments
cancellations of assessment bookings - in person or via zoom - within 0 - 56 days prior to the assessment date will be charged at the full course fee
Cancellation policy applies to all attendance courses on the IMDT website, whether paid for in full or instalments.
Should IMDT Ltd have to cancel a course for any reason and be unable to offer you alternative dates within 18 months of the original dates, a full refund or credit note for any other course available on the IMDT website shall be offered.
Posponement Due to Extreme Weather
In certain weather conditions, IMDT Ltd reserve the right to postpone a course upon safety grounds and will offer the choice of a rearranged date or credit note to the value of the course fee to all attendees.
All credit notes issued by IMDT Ltd are valid for 18 months from the date of issue
Correspondence Courses
Correspondence courses must be completed in the designated time period (2, 6 or 12 months).
If for any reason you believe the correspondence course will run over the designated 2, 6 or 12 month duration from start date, there may be an option to extend the course completion date.
Extension of the completion date requested within the original term of the course is subject to a re-registration fee of £130 + vat for 2 and 6 month courses and £170 + vat for 12 month courses.
The start date for each of the correspondence courses is the date of booking.(even if the commencement date of the course is re-arranged)
Extension of the completion date requested after the original term of the course, is subject to a re-registration fee which is 50% of the original course fee + vat
By accepting these Terms and Conditions, you are expressly consenting to IMDT commencing the provision of services under this contract by sending to you by email the necessary course notes to commence the correspondence course, which will affect your ability to change your mind and cancel your booking and obtain a refund.
Where the correspondence course is completed, you do not have the right to change your mind, even if the cancellation period is still running.
If you cancel within the 14 day cooling off period and after we have commenced providing services under this contract by sending to you by email the necessary course notes and units to commence the correspondence course, you must pay us pro rata for the course units provided up until the time you tell us that you have changed your mind. The amount you pay will be in proportion to the number of units that you have been supplied in comparison with the full number of units to be provided under the contract. You will be refunded the difference (if any) between the sums you have paid us up to the date of cancellation and this proportionate amount payable for the services.
Any refunds will be made to you within 14 days of you telling us you have changed your mind.
Delegate Substitution
All changes of delagate names must be requested 5 days prior to the start of the event by email to [email protected] and the change of delegate must be agreed by IMDT prior to attendence.
Gift Voucher Terms and Conditions
IMDT Gift Vouchers are valid for a period of 1 year; the year duration starts from the date that the Gift Voucher was purchased.
Purchases of vouchers are non-refundable and must be used within 12 months from date of purchase.
IMDT cannot be responsible for any deleted or stolen Gift Vouchers.
IMDT recommends that the purchaser should ensure that the delivery email address is entered correctly, as we can’t take any responsibility if someone other than the recipient has used the voucher.
IMDT recommends that the purchaser ensures that the recipient has received the email Gift Voucher and the recipient keeps the email safe.
IMDT can’t take any responsibility if emails get caught in spam filters or capacity of the recipient’s mailbox as this is out of IMDTs control, we can change recipients email addresses and re-send with the purchaser’s permission.
The IMDT Gift Voucher can only be used on the IMDT website http://www.imdt.uk.com
Gift vouchers purchased in a 'blacklab' sale can only be used outside of a 'blacklab' sale.
IMDT reserves the right to vary these term and conditions.
Transfer
Requests to transfer to an alternative course or date must be made by email to [email protected]
Transfers, for courses other than the IMDT 4 Day Practical Instructors Course or the IMDT or IMDTB assessments, may be made up to 21 days before the course start date and will incur no additional fee. However, transfers are subject to availability and The IMDT is not obliged to ensure suitable alternatives are available.
Transfers can only be made onto courses that are currently listed on the IMDT website.
Transfers for the IMDT 4 Day Practical Instructors course may be requested up to 42 days before the course date will incur no additional fee. Transfers are subject to availability and the IMDT is not obliged to ensure suitable alternatives are available. No transfers for the IMDT 4 day Practical Instructors course will be available after the 42 day cut off period and our cancellation fees policy will apply.
Transfers for IMDT and IMDTB assessments may be requested up to 56 days before the assessment date and will incur no additional fee. Transfers are subject to availability and the IMDT is not obliged to ensure suitable alternatives are available. No transfers for IMDT and IMDTB assessments will be available after the 56 day cut off period and our cancellation fees policy will apply.
Transfers for the IMDT 2nd Chance Heroes course may be requested up to 42 days before the course date will incur no additional fee. Transfers are subject to availability and the IMDT is not obliged to ensure sutiable alternatives are available. No transfers for the IMDT 2nd Chance Heroes course will be available after the 42 day cut off period and our cancellation fees policy will apply
A booking can only be transferred on one occasion. Requests for subsequent transfers will be treated as cancellations.
Transfer of student name cannot be made for correspondence courses after booking.
Transfers of course bookings must be agreed with the IMDT office and made to an alternative date within 12 months of the original course date.
If you book a 'Handler' spot on a course and are then unable to bring a dog, at your request we can transfer your spot to a 'Spectator' place and refund the difference in fee.
Webinars
Webinars are to be viewed by the purchasing customer only and must not be shared with a 3rd party unless express permission is first granted by The IMDT
Professional Dog Walking Certification
Should you miss a session of the Professional Dog Walking Certification course, upon request we will send you a recording of the session which will remain valid and accessible for 7 days after the missed session.
Course Content
The IMDT reserves the right to change the content, timing, date, venue or Instructor of the course in order to provide a high quality service or where it is necessary for reasons beyond our control. The IMDT reserves the right to cancel a course up to and including the date of the course and will strive to give as much notice of this as possible. Individuals booked onto a cancelled course will be given the option of a full refund or of rescheduling to a future course date. The IMDT will not be liable for any losses or expenses arising from amendments to the course or cancellations. Course materials are supplied only for your personal use.
Intellectual Property
The IMDT remains the owner of all intellectual property in course materials. No part of the materials may be copied, recorded or reproduced without our permission.
In the case of correspondence courses, if you change your mind and cancel this contract, then you must return to us within 7 days of the date of cancellation all materials that we have sent to you and delete any such materials held in an electronic format.
Limitation of Liability
IMDT will accept no responsibility for any losses, either direct or indirect, which you suffer in connection with the services provided under this contract.
Data Protection
Any personal information you give to us with be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018. We will use the information to process your booking, to provide the course and to inform you about similar courses which we provide, unless you tell us that you do not want to receive this information. Any personal data you provide may be held on computer files. All personal data will be handed appropriately in accordance with the provisions of General Data Protection Regulations.
Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with English law and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them shall be settled by the English courts.
Weather
In certain weather conditions, IMDT reserve the right to postpone courses upon safety grounds and will offer a rearranged date.
Travel in all conditions is purely at the risk of attendees and IMDT take no responsibility for accidents.
Canine Welfare
Attendees bringing their own dogs to any IMDT event must take personal responsiblity for their own dog's comfort, welfare and behaviour.
IMDT Membership Assessments
Elements of the IMDT Membership assessment are recorded purely for verification purposes.
All recordings remain the property of the IMDT and will be deleted after a period of 6 weeks following each assessment.
Only assessments which are fully completed by the applicant within the designated time period will be assessed and marked by the IMDT
All membership assessment results, offers of Membership, and continuation of Membership decisions are made by the IMDT management team and are final.
IMDT Membership
Offers of IMDT Membership and Membership Renewals are at the discretion of IMDT Ltd
Directory
Listings on the IMDT Find A Trainer /Behaviourist directory is at the sole discretion of the IMDT
